MoJoe Show Heatwave

About the band

HEATWAVE is an 8 piece rhythm and blues powerhouse specializing in the music of Motown, the American hit factory that produced The Supremes, The Temptations, The Four Tops, The Jackson Five, Marvin Gay, Mary Wells, the Miracles and Martha and the Vandallas. Every tune is a dance-floor filler and a sing-along thriller.

HEATWAVE  is comprised of Gord McDiarmid on keyboards and vocals, Brant Peppley on guitar and vocals, Brian Howell on percussion and vocals, Craig Jones on bass and vocals, Val Hamilton on sax and vocals, Barb Wilson on keyboards and vocals, Henny Harmsen on drums and Jay Janz on saxophone. Their repertoire is right out of the chart-topping hits of the 1960s and 1970s when Motown was in its heyday. HEATWAVE lovingly re-creates these enduring classics and sends everyone home with a smile on their face and a spring in their step.

The Mahones Raise over $3,100 for Joe’s M.I.L.L. Update!

The Mahones came though with  flying colours when they put on 3 high energy shows at the Toucan this weekend. The room was packed and the mosh pit { A clearing full of body-slamming, pogo-jumping, circle dancing, aggression releasing people that forms when a particularly good bands (the Mahones)  whip the crowd into a frenzy} was full.

Many thanks to Finny McConnell, Katie “Kaboom” McConnell, Dom “The Bomb” Whelan,
Sean Winter , Paul “Cuzo” Mancuso, and Chris “skid” Scahill for taking the time out of their busy schedule  and giving up your paycheque to support the library. We love you!

Thank you to The Rotted Roots Ramblers (Friday) and the Besides (Saturday)  who donated their time and talent to help make the weekend a rousing success.

Many thanks to Andrew Brown at the Toucan who not only played tin whistle on every song, but also organized and promoted the whole weekend, the show  wouldn’t have happened without you.
